Pawleys Island, SC, as seen on bumper stickers, signs, brochures; the locals call it “Arrogantly Shabby”. It is laid back and relaxing to say the least.

This unique barrier island on South Carolina’s northern coast is home to few and a second home or vacation home to many.

It is located 25 miles south of Myrtle Beach, SC and 70 miles north of Charleston, SC. It is approximately 3.5 miles long and is as narrow as one house. That’s right, as narrow as one house. There is the ocean, a house, the road and the marsh.

In the early 1700s Pawleys Island was used as a May to November get a way for owners of the rice plantations. They moved families, livestock, furniture and provision to the island for health reasons.
